Dull, unevenly textured, wrinkled skin is commonly the result of photoaging. Skin that is "photoaged" can cause us to appear older than our chronological age, and is primarily attributed to unprotected skin being exposed to sun and environmental elements for extended periods of time. Skin rejuvenation is the most commonly sought treatment for tired, damaged skin.

According to the American Society for Dermatological Surgery (ASDS) 2005 procedural survey, 58% of patients seeking nonablative skin rejuvenation treatments are most frequently treated with lasers. Today we estimate that over 75% of all patients are seeking non-ablative laser treatment for their photoaged skin.

Lasers can offer skin rejuvenation treatment without requiring recovery time, downtime or side-effects like those commonly attributed to chemical peels, invasive surgery, injections or harsh ablative procedures.

The Gold Standard in rejuvenation has vastly become the Candela Vbeam® Perfecta pulsed dye laser. This laser is specifically designed to treat underlying vasculature and epidermal pigmented lesions without damaging the surface of the skin. Perfecta uses micro-pulse technology to provide visibly effective treatments without any open wounds, facial crusting, "purpura," or laser bruising, so patients who receive treatment can walk out the door without embarrassing side effects.

Because of the specific wavelength of the laser, and the patented DCD epidermal cooling and protection system, it's a simple and complete rejuvenation system. No anesthesia is required, and no skin irritating "topicals," ointments or gels are applied for Vbeam treatment. The DCD is all that is needed for comfort and protection, and evaporates after the laser beam is applied so there's no "clean up" on the skin.

The Vbeam Perfecta treats conditions such as facial and nasal veins, sun spots and freckles, diffuse redness and rosacea, psoriasis, even unsightly scars and warts; and can be used on the face and body.

Vbeam treatment produces an immediately visible result, and there is no recovery time or anesthesia required post treatment. Patients can come in for treatment and resume normal activities when their treatment is done, unlike peels or other procedures that require downtime at home to heal and let bruising subside, or to heal open wounds and scratchy skin.

It's an all in one device that allows patients to be treated quickly and comfortably, and then immediately return to their daily activities. The result is a glowing and even looking complexion; some patients even notice an improvement in pore size.

More information about Vbeam non-ablative skin rejuvenation can be found online at the company website www.candelalaser.com. The website also features a practitioner search so it's easy to find a location in your area to receive Vbeam treatment.

You may be a candidate for V Beam Perfecta Laser Treatment if you have visible blood vessels (Telangiectasia), raised strawberry-like lesions (Rosacea), red, raised or thick scars, red birthmarks, reddish stretch marks, or Rosacea of the face, neck, or chest. The intent of the V Beam Perfecta Laser is to reduce or eliminate redness associated with the above mentioned conditions. Secondarily, the V Beam Laser may also be used to stimulate collagen growth.

The V Beam Perfecta Laser Treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and topical anesthetic is applied to minimize discomfort. A light is used to target the affected area and causes the red blood cells within the vessel to heat up. This injures the blood vessel wall causing the vessel to close down. While some areas respond with just one treatment, others may require multiple treatments over several visits. When multiple treatments are required, significant improvement should be noted with each visit.

The specific risks and suitability of V Beam Perfecta Laser Treatment for a given individual are determined at the time of consultation. All procedures carry some degree of risk and minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.
