The world of dermal fillers is a well-populated one. Patients in San Diego and around the United States want "non-invasive" solutions to facial aging issues. In fact, both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) and the American Academy of Dermatology say that dermal fillers are the most popular "non-invasive" procedure in the United States. For many patients, some of the best cosmetic solutions are found in the world of injectables.

Captique was FDA approved in 2004, so patients can feel assured that it is a safe and effective product. Captique is a clear gel that contains a purified form of hyaluronic acid. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body, pre-testing for sensitivity to the product is not necessary.

Like other dermal fillers, Captique smooths facial lines and wrinkles. It can be used to treat different areas on the face, including crow's feet, nasolabial folds (smile lines), vertical lip lines and "marionette" lines (lip corners). Sometimes Captique is used in conjunction with other products that contain collagen to achieve an even more enhanced result. Captique is absorbed over time by your body, so results last approximately 4 to 6 months. Periodic touch-ups are recommended if you want to maintain the more youthful appearance you get from dermal fillers.

Captique, like other dermal fillers, has few side effects. You may experience some tenderness, redness, swelling, or slight bruising to the injected area. This is temporary and usually passes relatively quickly. You should avoid exposure to excessive sun or UV rays after receiving injections. Patients who are known to have hypertrophic scarring, skin pigmentation, or any known allergies to bacterial proteins should not use Captique.

The dermal filler market has many product choices, and a physician's injection technique is extremely important in producing a good clinical outcome. A doctor's medical knowledge is irreplaceable, even with something as seemingly straightforward as injectables. Our physicians' extensive product knowledge is very helpful, and you will want to discuss the advantages of Captique and other dermal fillers before you have your treatment.

Dermatologists and plastic surgeons spend many years studying facial anatomy and the nuances of injecting products just under the skin's surface. At La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre, only board certified dermatologists and board certified plastic surgeons administer injectables.

La Jolla Cosmetic Centre has been serving patients since 1988 and we look forward to helping you achieve the result that you want.
