ActiveFXTM Laser Resurfacing
The UltraPulse Encore CO2 laser resurfacing device offers a new treatment, ActiveFXTM, which is an "erbium-like" peel with reduced downtime. This treatment can improve mild cosmetic flaws more gently, providing the benefits of advanced technology without the prolonged healing times that are often associated with other CO2 laser treatments. If you have less photodamage, or desire a quicker recuperation, you may choose this ActiveFXTM treatment for a more "superficial" peel.
Patient Benefits
The ActiveFXTM treatment is used to eliminate evidence of sun damage such as wrinkles, discoloration, and improve depressions in skin due to acne scars. It provides a novel, less invasive approach for treating these skin conditions. ActiveFXTM is a fractional laser procedure performed in a single treatment and typically takes about 30 minutes to treat the entire face. Patients can anticipate a healing time of about 5 days, and they will begin to notice their desired results. Improvement in the skin's tone and texture will continue to improve months after their treatment with the proper care of their skin such as avoiding the harmful effects of sunlight.
How it works
During the treatment, abnormal tissue will be removed and will stimulate new collagen growth with only one pass of the laser beam. This will also provide better elasticity and support for the skin. The ActiveFXTM treatment's setting targets and vaporizes water in the cells of the uppermost layer of skin, revealing fresher, younger-looking skin.
The ActiveFXTM treatment is performed in our office on an outpatient basis. Oral medications and topical anesthetics are administered to alleviate any discomfort associated with the procedure.
The specific risks and suitability of the ActiveFXTM Laser treatment for a given individual are determined at the consultation. All procedures carry some degree of risk and minor complications. Major complications are rare.
The ActiveFXTM treatment treats dyschromias, comedones, clogged pores, fine lines, fine wrinkles, and tightens the skin.
